| Pacers to send guard Rush to Golden State for… | |
INDIANAPOLIS The Indiana Pacers will trade guard Brandon Rush to the Golden State Warriors for forward Louis Amundson. The Bay Area News Group first reported the deal. Mark Bartelstein, the agent for both players, confirmed the move on Sunday. “This is a great fit for both guys,” Bartelstein said. Rush averaged 8.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in three seasons for the Pacers. The Pacers considered him a part of the core group of young players, but the team eventually added enough talent at his position to make him expendable. Bartelstein said Pacers president Larry Bird and general manager David Morway worked to find an ideal setting for Rush once Paul George emerged as a starter and the team added guard George Hill in a draft-night trade. “The Pacers have been talking about this for quite a while,” Bartelstein said. “I really appreciate Larry and David for trying to find a good home for Brandon. They’re loaded at the position. Brandon is a really talented guy who needs to play.” Rush showed great potential at times, but also found trouble. He was suspended for the first five games last season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Amundson has averaged 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in five seasons, primarily with Philadelphia, Phoenix and Golden State. He shoots 52 per cent from the field for his career. “The Pacers probably needed another big,” Bartelstein said. “Louis is a high-energy guy that gets you extra possessions. He’s a great athlete, a really good NBA player.” The Associated Press Subscribe to our feed!. Posted in nba, Uncategorized | Comments Off

| Indiana Pacers Trade For OJ Mayo? | |
Updated: December 12, 2011, 4:41 pm ET The Indiana Pacers have had their sights set on Memphis Grizzlies guard OJ Mayo for some time, and today they may have found a way to get him. The Pacers are reportedly working on a deal to sign and trade Josh McRoberts along with Brandon Rush to the Grizzlies for Mayo. The Pacers nearly acquired Mayo at the trade deadline in a three-team deal with the New Orleans Hornets, but the Hornets pulled out at the last minute (not at David Stern’s command, in that instance). The Grizzlies have been looking for another front line piece to back up Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, and McRoberts will fill that role nicely. For their part, the Pacers have been looking for stability at the two-guard spot, and hope a fresh start will benefit Mayo, who had some issues off the court in Memphis. If they’re right, Mayo could be the piece that elevates the Pacers from a playoff team – which they absolutely solidified by signing David West – to a contender for home court advantage in the Eastern Conference. UPDATE: The Pacers are close to making the decision to sign-and-trade for Mayo, but the process is being held up by the idea that Jamal Crawford might opt to sign with Indiana. The Pacers have asked Crawford’s camp to make a decision before the end of the day so they can move forward one way or the other. The San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers are among the other teams that have expressed interest in Crawford. Feel free to leave your comments below. | Pacers 107, Celtics 100: Roy Hibbert Leads Indiana Past Boston | |
Roy Hibbert finished with 26 points and four rebounds as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Boston Celtics, 107-100, at Conseco Fieldhouse on Monday night. Boston (51-22) jumped out to a 33-27 lead after the first quarter, but fell victim to its recent inconsistent play and was outscored by Indiana, 30-16, in the second quarter to take a 57-49 lead entering halftime. In typical fashion, the Celtics bounced back in the third quarter, outscoring the Pacers 36-24 to take an 85-81 lead into the final quarter. But it was Indiana that had the last laugh, putting up 26 points while holding the Celtics to 15 points in the fourth to secure the win. Paul Pierce led the way for Boston, scoring 23 points and grabbing six rebounds. Rajon Rondo finished with 22 points and eight assists and Glen Davis added 20 points and five rebounds off the bench for Boston, which shot 54.8 percent in the losing effort. Danny Granger, the Pacers’ leading scorer, finished with 18 points and Darren Collison finished with 17 points for Indiana (33-42). A.J. Price added 15 points off the bench and both Dahntay Jones and Brandon Rush had eight points for the Pacers. Leave any suggestions in the comment box. Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

| No hamstring tear for Bobcats top scorer Jackson | |
By: AP Photo/Chuck Burton Charlotte Bobcats’ Stephen Jackson, top, shoots over Indiana Pacers’ Brandon Rush in the first half of an NBA basketball game in Charlotte, N.C., Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Charlotte Bobcats top scorer Stephen Jackson will be listed as day to day after an MRI revealed no tear in his left hamstring. Jackson underwent tests Thursday, a day after failing to record a field goal after the first quarter in a loss to the Indiana Pacers while hobbled by the injury. Jackson has missed four games over the past month while being slowed by the strained hamstring. He aggravated the injury in shootaround Wednesday before Charlotte’s loss left the Bobcats three games behind the Pacers for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Forward Tyrus Thomas is also day to day after bruising ribs in the loss to Indiana. The Bobcats visit Boston on Friday. There is the quick update of the day. |

Mar 5, 2011 - Sports Network | March 5, 2011 Â (Sports Network) – Two teams desperate to improve their playoff positioning meet in south Texas Saturday when the Houston Rockets entertain the Indiana Pacers. The Rockets lost for the first time in six games on Wednesday in Los Angeles when Mo Williams finished with 17 points, including three free throws in the final 15 seconds, as the Clippers edged Houston, 106-103. Williams gave Los Angeles a 104-100 advantage with the second of two from the line with 14.4 seconds left on the clock. After Chase Budinger connected on a long three-pointer inside the final 10 seconds, Williams made a pair from the line for a 106-103 lead. Budinger then attempted another three at the buzzer, but the shot was far off target to end the game. Kyle Lowry paced Houston with 24 points and 11 assists. Courtney Lee added 18 points in a reserve role while Kevin Martin and Luis Scola both finished with 12 points in the loss. “You’re going to lose some games,” Rockets coach Rick Adelman told the team’s website. “We lost, now you have to respond against Indiana. You can’t give in to it.” Houston is now in 11th place in the tough Western Conference, three games behind Memphis for the eighth and final playoff spot with 19 games to play. Indiana’s record isn’t as good as the Rockets but they are currently eighth in the East, one game ahead of Charlotte for that conference’s last postseason spot. “We’ve always known there are ups and downs with the schedule,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel told the Pacers’ website. “We’re just battling every night. We believe a great deal in ourselves that we are going to make the playoffs.” One of those downs happened Friday when the Pacers dropped the front end of a two-day trek through the Lone Star State in Dallas when Dirk Nowitzki poured in 29 points and missed just twice from the floor, leading the Mavs to their eighth straight victory with a 116-108 triumph. Danny Granger led six Indiana players in double figures with 22 points, but the Pacers lost for the fourth time in five games. Darren Collison had 17 points, while Josh McRoberts netted 15 for Indiana, which has lost to Dallas seven straight times. Tyler Hansbrough (13), Roy Hibbert (11) and Brandon Rush (10) were also in double figures. “We didn’t defend well enough in the first half,” Vogel said. “They got off on us. They are an extremely explosive offensive team and we didn’t do a good enough job in the first half. Our guys fought like they always do and made a game of it in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.” The Rockets snapped a four-game skid to the Pacers with a 102-99 win in Indy back on Nov. 12.
