The contract between Thomas and the Knicks for him to be a consultant was nixed by the NBA because Thomas, as coach of Florida International University, has contact with high school players, which is against NBA bylaws. "Isiah is one of [Madison Square Garden chairman] Jim Dolan’s best friends," a person close to Thomas told the paper

Tim Thomas is visiting the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, as it looks like the two sides are  close to a one-year agreement , according to ESPN Dallas. Thomas, 33, played 18 games for the Mavericks last season but then left the team to be with his ailing wife, who is apparently better after the undisclosed illness. "If all goes well, we’ll reach an agreement," Thomas’ agent Bob Myers told the site
