What data Pacers News collects, why, who processes it and how to reach us about it.
Last updated
This page describes what Pacers News collects when you read the site, and why. We keep it short because we collect very little, and we update it whenever that changes.
Summary
- You don't need an account to read the site.
- We use Google Analytics to see which stories people read. It is not used for advertising.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, like any website.
- We only collect your email address if you choose to give it to us.
- We do not sell personal data.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers use the site: which articles get read, how people find us and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies such as_ga and receives information like the page you viewed, your approximate location, your browser and device, and the site that sent you here.
We have turned off Google Signals and ad personalization, so this data is not used to target ads at you. If you'd rather not be counted, you can block cookies in your browser or installGoogle's Analytics opt-out add-on.
Server logs and hosting
The site is delivered through Cloudflare. When you load a page, Cloudflare processes standard request information such as your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type, so that it can deliver the page and block abusive traffic. We don't use this to identify individual readers. Cloudflare may process this data outside your country and publishes its own privacy documentation.
Newsletter and email
If you sign up for the newsletter, we store your email address to send it to you. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we will not sell or share your address for anyone else's marketing.
If you email us, we use your message and address to reply and, if you're reporting a mistake, to check and fix the article.
How long we keep data
- Server and security logs: only as long as Cloudflare's standard retention periods.
- Analytics data: kept under Google Analytics' retention settings for aggregate reporting.
- Newsletter addresses: while you're subscribed, and removed when you unsubscribe.
- Emails to us: for as long as we need to handle what you wrote about.
Children
Pacers News is a general-audience basketball site and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Links to other sites
Our articles link to other sites, such as league and team pages, stats sites and other outlets. Their privacy practices are their own and aren't covered by this policy.
Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it's used. For any privacy question or request, email desk@pacersnews.com.
